On the heels of her 2017 West End debut, Audra McDonald receives her first nomination for an Olivier Award in the category of Best Actress. She is recognized for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill—the same role that won her a record-breaking sixth Tony Award.

Alongside Audra, other nominees include:
Laura Donnelly for The Ferryman at Gielgud Theatre and Jerwood Theatre Downstairs at the Royal Court Theatre
Lesley Manville for Long Day’s Journey Into Night at Wyndham’s Theatre
Imelda Staunton for Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? at Harold Pinter Theatre

The annual awards ceremony, named after British actor Laurence Olivier, will be held at Royal Albert Hall on April 8.
