Season 4 of the “The Good Fight”

CBS All Access has announced that the season 4 premiere of “The Good Fight” will air on April 9.

In the new season, Reddick (Audra McDonald), Boseman (Delroy Lindo), and Lockhart (Christine Baranski) are forced to accept an offer to become a subsidiary of a huge firm after their founding partner’s name was tarnished. Under the crushing fist of the new administration, Diane Lockhart and her colleagues struggle to deal with their sudden loss of independence and wonder if it’s possible to resist against this controlling overlord.

Audra Hosts Met Opera Live in HD of Porgy & Bess

On February 1, Audra McDonald hosted the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD transmission of Porgy & Bess. Having won the Tony Award for her portrayal of Bess in the 2012 Broadway revival, Audra drew from her firsthand knowledge as she spoke with the cast and creators of the production. Bass-baritone Eric Owens and soprano April Blue starred as the title characters in James Robinson’s new production of the beloved American opera.

Encore screenings of the production can be seen on February 5, 8, and 15 in the United States; March 28 and 30 and April 1 and 5 in Canada; and on July 17 on PBS.

2020 Critics’ Choice Award Nomination

Audra McDonald has been nominated for a 2020 Critics’ Choice Award in the category of “Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” for her portrayal of Liz Lawrence in The Good Fight. The follow-up series to The Good Wife, The Good Fight is a drama featuring political and social commentary on topics such as the alt-right, #MeToo Movement, and fake news.

The show is nominated for “Best Drama Series,” Christine Baranski for “Best Actress in a Drama Series,” and Delroy Lindo for “Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.” Other nominees in Audra’s category include Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), Laura Dern (Big Little Lies), Jean Smart (Watchmen), Meryl Streep (Big Little Lies), Susan Kelechi Watson (This Is Us).

Fall Concert Tour

After a summer on Broadway, Audra McDonald begins a fall concert tour this September. Traveling with her trio—Andy Einhorn (piano/conductor), Gene Lewin (drums), and Mark Vanderpoel (bass)—Audra performs her trademark mix of songs from American musical theater in Iowa City, IO; Fairfax, VA; Worcester, MA; and Orem, UT.

Along the way, Audra also headlines select special events: a concert with Seth Rudetsky at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre (September 15), the Philadelphia Orchestra’s season-opening gala with Yannick Nézet-Séguin (September 18), the Lansing Symphony Orchestra in their 90th season-opening night with Mo. Timothy Muffitt (September 21),  and the annual benefit for The Jessye Norman School of the Arts in Augusta, GA (October 13).

2019 Sleep Out Campaign

Audra McDonald lends her support to Covenant House International’s annual Sleep Out. On Monday, August 19, she and other members of the stage and screen community will sleep out on the streets of New York City as an act of solidarity with the 4.2 million youth who experience homelessness each year. A board member of the organization since 2014, Audra describes the Sleep Out as “a life-changing, life-affirming event” that genuinely touches the young people affected by homelessness.

Final Weeks of Frankie & Johnny

Hailed as “a modern classic and a testament to human connection” (Deadline), Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune announces its final performance on Broadway. The upcoming shows celebrate the artistic achievements of playwright Terrence McNally, recipient of the 2019 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, director Arin Arbus in her Broadway debut, and stars Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon in their first collaboration. McDonald and Shannon’s moving portrayal of the seemingly mismatched Frankie and Johnny, cheered as “two of the best performances on Broadway” by The Daily Beast, can be seen at the Broadhurst Theatre until Sunday, July 28. As the first production of Broadway’s 2019-2020 season, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune will have played 70 regular and 26 preview performances upon closing. Click here for tickets.
