Tickets for Shuffle Along on Broadway on sale now

ShuffleAlonglogoTickets for Audra McDonald’s highly anticipated return to Broadway in Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed are now on sale.

The six-time Tony winner stars alongside Brian Stokes Mitchell, Billy Porter, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Joshua Henry in this revival production of the 1921 musical. Pruduced by Scott Rudin, Shuffle Along also reunites George C. Wolfe and Savion Glover, the award-winning creators of Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk.

Previews of Shuffle Along begin March 15, 2016 at the Music Box Theatre, with the Broadway opening set for April 28.

Live from Lincoln Center’s “Sweeney Todd” wins Emmy Award

Live from Lincoln CenterLive From Lincoln Center‘s telecast of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Program. As the official host of the PBS series, Audra shares the award with the show’s producers.

Starring Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett and Bryn Terfel as the title character, Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd aired nationally on PBS on September 26, 2014. The production was directed by Lonny Price and featured the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Alan Gilbert.

Audra has served as the official host of Live From Lincoln Center since 2012. Sweeney Todd marks her fourth Emmy nomination and first win.

Audra McDonald kicks off fall 2015 concert tour with American Classics at the Hollywood Bowl

Bramwell Tovey leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in program of Bernstein, Rogers and Hammerstein, and other American favorites that also features a performance by the talented dancers of the American Ballet Theatre. Continuing her North American tour, the six-time Tony winner performs at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, California on September 5. Following two concerts with the Minnesota Orchestra (Sept 10, 11), Audra can be seen in at the University Musical Society in Ann Arbor, Michigan (Sept 17), with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra (Sept 19), in Kansas City for the Harriman-Jewell Series (Sept 26). October highlights include concerts at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing arts in Storrs, Connecticut (Oct 8), at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville, South Carolina (Oct 13), and the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts (Oct 25).

Audra completes her fall tour with a series of concerts in Australia, visiting Melbourne and Sydney from October 31 to November 7.

Audra’s Covenant House 2015 Broadway Sleep Out campaign extended through Aug 12

Audra Sleep OutDue to the generosity of supporters, Audra has extended her 2015 Broadway Sleep Out campaign through noon EDT on Wednesday, August 12. To further encourage people to give, for those who donate at the $2,250 level, Audra will not only meet you and a guest for hot chocolate at Sardi’s, but will also give a personal tour of Covenant House and a short private performance before she sleeps out.

Audra Ricki and the FlashAudra McDonald stars opposite Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline in Jonathan Demme’s new film Ricki and the Flash, in theaters today. The comedy-drama follows fading rockstar Ricki Randazzo (Streep) as she tries to mend the relationship with her estranged family, dealing with the consequences of her pursuit of stardom. Audra plays the role of the new wife to Pete (Kline), Maureen, the steadfast foil to Ricki’s impulsive character.

Audra offers Tweets, telegrams, hot chocolate, and more to raise funds for Covenant House

Covenant House logoAudra is aiming to raise more than $25,000 for her Covenant House 2015 Broadway Sleep Out fundraising campaign to support homeless young people. In 2014 she raised over $17,000 by offering unique “Audrafied prizes” and this year she is upping the ante with a new suite of special incentives. To encourage people to donate, she’s offering personalized Tweets, signed CDs, singing telegrams, video messages, and even a chance to join her for hot chocolate at Sardi’s to patrons who make a gift to Covenant House between now and next Wednesday, August 5 at noon EDT. Covenant House is the largest privately funded agency in the Americas and provides shelter, food, immediate crisis care, and an array of other services to homeless and runaway youth.

The following prizes are in exchange for donations ranging from $50 to $2,250 that are made between now and Wednesday, August 5 at noon EDT:

*For a $50 donation, Audra will recognize you in the “Cool People Hall of Fame” on her Facebook page.
*For a $100 donation, Audra will tweet you her personal thanks. (Share your handle with her on the donation form!)
*For a $250 donation, Audra will send you a signed copy of her 2013 recording “Go Back Home,” courtesy of Nonesuch.
*For a $500 donation, Audra will send you or someone special of your choosing a video message filmed on the night of her Sleep Out in November.
*For a $1,000 donation, Audra will deliver a singing telegram via phone to you or a loved one when she sleeps out on the evening of November 19.
*For a $2,250 donation, Audra will join you and one guest for hot chocolate at Sardi’s in New York before the Covenant House Candlelight Vigil for Homeless Youth on November 19.

To be eligible for prizes, donations must be made on Audra McDonald’s fundraising page before the deadline on August 5.

Nearly 2 million children in the Americas face homelessness every year, of which Covenant House helps more than 57,000 annually, providing shelter, food and immediate crisis care. It is the largest privately funded agency providing these services, and since it was founded in 1972 it has helped more than 1.2 million youths find a way off the streets and into a hopeful future.
